Indoor Growing School Kits

Thanks to everyone who signed up for a Kit this year – over 75 were distributed to schools across the province!  Unfortunately there are no more Kits available. Please contact us if you would like to be put on the waiting list.

In 2010, the Manitoba Climate Change Action fund provided funding for Manitoba Food Miles: A Local Food Public Education Initiative project on food and climate change. Twenty-nine workshops were delivered to over 1100 students across the province on food miles, sustainable food systems, greenhouse gas emissions and climate change impacts. As we received many more requests for workshops than we could deliver, we decided to provide schools with hands-on kits for engaging their students in these discussions.

We have partnered with TD Friends of the Environment for a second year to organize our "Getting Growing" School Kits. We are again giving out 75 of these kits to teachers and schools who would like to try seed-starting indoors, either to use in their school garden or to engage students in discussions about food origins. One Kit includes seeds, starter soil mix, a full spectrum bulb and access to seed-starting advice and teacher resources
