"Food Matters [to Me]" Youth Gathering

Friday, February 24th
8:00 am – 3:00 pm

Join other young foodies at the 2012 Growing Local Conference "Food Matters [to Me]" Youth Gathering, a full day of local food stories and hands-on workshops. Hear from a variety of speakers, feast on local sustainable lunch and snacks and learn about what other students are up to through the Youth Presentations.  

Workshops:

  • Year-Round Composting - Almost Urban and Urban Eatin'
  • Fair Trade Consumption - Rebecca Irving, MCIC
  • Farming as a Career - Manitoba Farm Mentorship, The Landless Farmers, Zinn Farm and Jonathan's Farm
  • Addressing Local Food Security - David Northcott, Winnipeg Harvest
  • Traditional Foods - Audrey Logan
  • Vegan Cooking - Mondragon Bookstore and Cafe

Registrations are limited to 10 students plus 1-2 teachers/guardians per group or school and is open to all Grades 7-12 of Manitoba, with a minimum age of 12.
