February 23, 2012 Rachel Lagace of CTV Morning Live joined us the opening morning of the conference to speak with FMM staff, conference organizers, displayers and presenters about all the great activities taking place during this year's conference.

February 21, 2012 Erica Young (Conference Assistant) et Lauren Howard (Office Coordinator) ont fait une entrevue en francais avec Genevieve Murchison de Radio-Reveil/Radio-Canada. Le sujet? Food Matters Manitoba ("Parlons Alimentation Manitoba"), et Growing Local 2012.

February 17, 2012 Adrienne Percy, a conference displayer for DomesticDiva.ca and a presenter at this year's Growing Local appeared on Breakfast Television to highlight some of the great workshops and events happening at the event. Check out the great chicken, donated by Local Meats and Frozen Treats!

February 3, 2012 The Second Annual Localvore Iron Chef Cook-Off was a great success! Marcy Markusa from CBC Information Radio and Drew Kozub from Breakfast Television joined us live-on-location for the morning's activities. Radio-Canada came to do a segment en francais on youth and healthy eating, and Shaw TV did a feature piece as well. Later the winners appeared on Up to Speed with Larry Updike. The Monday after the competition the winners appeared on BT with host Jeremy John. Click here for the video!

January 16, 2012 The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food was planning a mission to Canada, the first such mission to a developed country. In response to a request from the rapporteur's office, Food Secure Canada compiled a submission laying out five broad priority issues for Canada. These priorities were based on submissions from more than 40 groups across the country, including Food Matters Manitoba.

January 12, 2012 It was announced that the 2012 Growing Local Conference keynote speaker would be Winona LaDuke, internationally acclaimed Anishinaabe author and orator. First Perspective/The Drum picked up the story.

December 14, 2011 The 2012 Growing Local Conference moved locations to the iconic downtown Marlborough Hotel. With that hotel Chef Gil Ferreira and his team took on the challenge to source local fare from Manitoba businesses and farmers for this year's event menu. Chrisd.ca and the City TV evening news highlighted this great story.

November 17, 2011 The global population has passed the seven million mark. How does that affect food security? The Manitoba Cooperator delved into this issue and more, making it's feature article an extensive exploration of the topic. FMM's Executive Director Kreesta Doucette, and Minister Stan Struthers of Manitoba Agriculture Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI) were interviewed.

November 2, 2011 The Thompson Citizen addressed 'World Food Day' held on October 16th and their editor wrote a piece on food security issues in our province.From the beginning stages of the Manitoba Food Charter, to the Golden Carrot Awards, to  building greenhouses in Fox Lake Cree Nation, the article covered a variety of important topics.

October 20, 2011 The Manitoba Cooperator published an article about those recognized at this year's Golden Carrot Awards. A 'Distinctive Honouree' was selection from each category at this annual event. It takes place each year at the Manitoba Legislature as celebrates community food champions working hard behind the scenes to get healthy, sustainable and fair food on Manitoba tables.

October 14, 2011 CTV's 6 o'clock news featured a brief about that day's Golden Carrot Awards Ceremony at the Legislature.

September 23, 2011 The Headliner profiled the Regnier family of Blue Lagoon Florascape and recognized them for their Golden Carrot nomination as part of the Manitoba Farm Mentorship program.

September 15, 2011 Adrienne Percy, FMM volunteer and mom-extraordinaire, was interviewed by Marilyn Make of CBC Radio Noon for their 'back-to-school' lunch segment. Adrienne introduced our "Dig In Manitoba" initiative, and the upcoming event at the Park Theatre. Plus she brought recipe samples!

September 15, 2011 Uptown Magazine attended our "iVote Because Food Matters" election panel to cover  what each of the parties had to say about food issues for the provincial election.

July 26, 2011 Metro Winnipeg covered our Twitter campaign to get chef Jamie Oliver to come to the 2012 Growing Local Conference as well as help bring awareness of the challenges and successes in Northern Manitoba.

July 1, 2011 The Globe & Mail annouced Local Food Plus' expansion across Canada and FMM's Kreesta Doucette commented on the benefits of LFP coming to Manitoba.

April 14, 2011 Bartley Kives from the Winnipeg Free Press profiles how the spring floods in the province hurt the local food industry, FMM's Kreesta Doucette reveals that we eat very little of what we produce.

March 10, 2011 The Manitoba Co-operator had two articles about workshops at the 2011 Growing Local Conference.

March 3, 2011 Uptown's Marlo Campbell interviewed Joel Salatin at the 2011 Growing Local Conference. The Manitoba Co-operator also gave an account of Joel's speech.

February 26, 2011 Radio-Canada Manitoba interviewed FMM's Kreesta Doucette and a conference attendee as the 2011 Growing Local Conference wrapped up.

February 23, 2011 Our Keynote Speaker for our 2011 Growing Local Conference, Joel Salatin, was on  Up to Speed with Larry Updike on CBC Radio One 89.3 FM. FMM's Chris Schiffmann has a comment article "The Local Food Paradigm Shift" on page 8 in The Uniter's Food Issue. FMM's Erika Frey and Paul Chorney along with our Localvore Iron Chef Cook-Off and the 2011 Growing Local Conference are featured in "A Matter of Food" on page 3.

February 15, 2011 CityTV Winnipeg's Breakfast Television visited our office and interviewed FMM's Paul Chorney on rising food prices.

February 10, 2011 The Stonewall Argus & Teulon Times' Darren Rigley profiled teams from Warren and Stonewall, Manitoba who participated in our Localvore Iron Chef Cook-Off.

February 5/6, 2011 Global Winnipeg and Radio-Canada Manitoba both showcased the Localvore Iron Chef Cook-Off on their evening newscasts.
