Strawberry Freezer Jam

This week we partnered with Eyaa-Keen Healing Centre Inc. to learn different ways to make strawberry jam. Having picked their strawberries the week before, participants were excited to put in a bit more work to make homemade jam. Each participant left with several jars of jam in their hands, wild blueberry pie in their stomachs, smiles on their faces, and plans to try out all different kinds of jam recipes in the future.

Makes: 3 – 250 ml jars

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 package freezer jam pectin

 

 

Directions:

  1. Thaw frozen strawberries in the refrigerator
  2. Crush berries using hands, potato masher, or blender until slightly chunky
  3. Stir in sugar and let stand for 15 minutes
  4. Stir in pectin, stir for 3 minutes
  5. Spoon jam into jars, filling to the fill line, or a ½ inch from the top
  6. Wipe jar rims clean
  7. Place in freezer and let sit for 24 hours
  8. Enjoy!
