Here at Food Matters Manitoba, we believe everyone deserves good food.
With your support, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of newcomers by helping them access fresh foods, cultivating their skills, and extending the growing season to help them grow the foods they love.
Food Matters Manitoba needs your votes for the Aviva Community Fund competition, to get funding to build a newcomer greenhouse.
Newcomers to Canada often face barriers to accessing good, healthy food. Community gardens have been shown to reduce stress, improve skills, supplement the fresh foods in their diets, and build community. A greenhouse would achieve all of these outcomes, while also extending the growing season, helping newcomers to grow the foods from their home countries.
Good food is essential for newcomer health and well being, and we are really excited to be a part of this competition.
