It was another successful year for the Growing Local Conference!

This year’s conference took place February 28 – March 1, 2014 and saw 500 attendees join us at the Marlborough Hotel for workshops, speakers, exhibits, and even a game show!

Highlights:

  • Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, Michael Moss, spoke to crowds about how food industry giants have engineered certain foods to keep your taste buds craving more.
  • University of Saskatoon’s Thomas Allen shared insights into how biomass has revolutionized methods of growing food in cold, remote communities.
  • 34 workshops took place for participants to learn DIY food skills, find out about food security issues in Manitoba, and much more.
The Growing Local Conference is Canada’s premiere food security conference, hosted by Food Matters Manitoba.
